fUSe fm Events

During the fUSe fm summer 2010 broadcast, the team organised two fundraising events to raise some money to help with the costs of the running the station for the 28 days on air. Both events were held in the Royal British Legion in Ballymoney who donated the use of their hall for these two fundraisers.
The Groove Train-Friday 9th July
This was the first of two fundraisers in aid of fUSe fm. The theme of the Groove Train was music and dress from the 60s, 70s & 80s. The event was well attended with most guests choosing to come in fancy dress.
The event began with the music and dance from the 60s making its way to the 80s before the close of the evening. Some of the guests choose to sing karaoke as well as the fUSe fm presenters singing their fUSeVISION songs
At the end of the night a prize was given for the best fancy dress of the evening and the decision was made to award it to both Mickey and Elaine Connor as best dressed couple. After a few more songs and dances the evening came to a close with the Legion having to put the last few guests out the door.
Special thanks to Robert for providing the music for the evening.

Skullduggery-Friday 16th July
The second fundraiser was a night with Skullduggery, a popular local Ulster-Scots band. The band set up on the stage and played a great wee set of music which included crowd favourites like Carrickfergus and Caledonia. The crowd were very pleased with the bands performance and they received a warm round of applause. The night was concluded with a disco with the music provided by Robert.
Skullduggery are due to release a CD in September which will feature all of the more popular songs. For more information contact the Ullans Centre.

Glebeside 11th July Celebrations
As part of the Glebeside 11th July celebrations, fUSe fm were asked but the community association to provide the music and banter. Pan and Codie were on the mics doing what they do best; keep the crowd entertained and Jonnie done the music.
The event included a bouncy castle, rodeo bull, funhouse truck and BBQ. Crisps and drinks were also available for the kids and a bar tent for the adults. At 7.30pm the music stopped and the fun packed up to get down to the serious business of the World Cup which was been shown live in the beer tent on a large screen TV.
The Event came to its conclusion as it always does with the band parading round the estate before returning to Belford Park and Lambegs drums being played. The Bonfire was then lit....eventually Celebrations went on well into the 12th July morning.

Dunloys Festival-Saturday 31st July
fUSe fm were also asked to provide some music before the start of the Dunloys festival at Castlecroft Square. Tubes and Jonnie provided the music, everything from the traditional Ulster Scots music to the latest charts music. The festival kicked off with Blazing Bellows taking to the stage to do their set followed by dancers showcasing traditional Highland and Ulster Scots dance as well as modern interpretations
After a short break where fUSe fm again provided the music, Skullduggery took to the stage providing traditional Ulster Scots music finishing their set with the popular song Caledonia. The Stage was then setup for the Churchill Band who travelled from Cookstown. They provided several numbers and showed why they have lasted over 170 years.
The festival came to a close later that evening with Dunloys annual parade with over 80 bands in attendance.
