MUSICIANS from across the province will be aiming to hit the right note later this year at the second annual Festival of Marching Bands.
The News Letter, in association with the Ulster Bands Forum, is holding concerts on Tuesday, November 23 and Tuesday, November 30 at Belfasts Ulster Hall. The festival, compered by actor Dan Gordon, will showcase popular marching band music from some of Northern Irelands favourite flute, pipe, accordion and silver bands with eight bands set to perform on each night.
Bands taking part in the festival include Antrims Kellswater flute band, the Armagh and Dungannon silver band, Annalongs Brunswick accordion band, Londonderrys Churchill flute band and Belfasts Whiterock flute band.
Speaking at the festivals launch yesterday, News Letter editor Darwin Templeton said: "Were delighted to be working again with the Ulster Bands Forum to deliver the festival, which is a superb showcase for the musical talent that exists within the bands community.
"Last years event was a huge success offering magnificent entertainment for the capacity crowd, and we hope to build on that over the two nights this year."
He added: "We have secured a tremendous line-up of the finest bands from different genres from across Northern Ireland and so there should be something to suit every taste."
Tickets, priced at 16, are now available from the Ulster Hall and can be ordered by telephone on 9033 4455, or online at www.ulsterhall.co.uk
Doors open at 6.30pm with the performances beginning at 7.30pm.
